CHIEF OLU FADAIRO 1930-2008

 

 

A YOUTH LEADER GOES HOME

 

This to announce the passing to glory  of Chief   Olu  Fadairo (MON), Oluwo,  Offin Sagamu, on the  16th of November 2008 at the age of 78years.

 

Chief Olu Fadairo retired as the General Manager, (Publication Division), Daily Times of Nigeria in 1984 having worked there for 36 years. In addition, he was:  

 

  • First Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Ogun State Radio and Television Broadcasting Corporation (OGBC/OGTV) 1985-1989.
  • First secretary of the Nigeria Institute of Directors (IOD).
  • President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria for twenty one years.
  • Executive Committee Member and later Vice President of the World Assembly of Youth (WAY)
  • President of the United Nations Association of Nigeria and Vice President, World Federation of United Nations Associations.
  • Chairman, Organising Committee of International Youth Year (IYY) held in Nigeria 1985.
  • Member National Advisory Committee for Social Development and the  National Youth Advisory Committee,

 

His services for the nation earned him a National Honour of the Member of the Order of the Niger (M.O.N) in 1965 at the age 35 years

 

Recently the Lagos State Government honoured him with an award for his service to youth development in the State.    

 

Widely travelled, keen sports organiser having served on the board of National and State Boxing and Athletics Associations.

 

Member of the Young Men Christian Union of St Judes Church, Ebute-Metta,and a  former member of the Standing Committee of  the Cathedral of St Pauls’ Sagamu,Ogun State.

 

He will be missed by his wife, children, grand children, family and friends due to his selfless and humble disposition to life.
